Wenger expects Gabriel to miss three weeks with hamstring injury

Wenger expects Gabriel to miss three weeks with hamstring injury
The centre-back, who joined the club in January, was replaced by Laurent Koscielny after just 37 minutes of the clash with QPR at Loftus Road on Wednesday night

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he expects Gabriel to be out for three weeks after the defender was forced off in the Gunners' 2-1 win at QPR with a hamstring injury.

Gabriel, a January signing from Villarreal, was handed a second start in as many games, partnering Per Mertesacker in the centre of defence at Loftus Road as Arsenal beat QPR 2-1.

But the defender was forced off after just 37 minutes and replaced by Laurent Koscielny.

"We don't know," Wenger told reporters after the game when questioned over the severity of the injury. "Bad enough to come off. Usually it means 21 days."

Arsenal took a two-goal lead in the second half at Loftus Road through Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez, before the hosts responded through Charlie Austin late on.

Wenger's side remain third in the Premier League table, four points behind Manchester City in second place.
