Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has revealed he will feature in a German comedy film called ‘Macho Man’.

The film, adapted from a best-selling novel by Moritz Netenjakob, follows the love life of Daniel Hagenberger, a shy and insecure character, and his relationship with a Turkish woman called Aylin Denizoglu.

Podolski, who plays himself in the film, has already shot his scenes inside Koln’s RheinEnergieStadion, while the planned release date in Germany is October 22, 2015.

"The film will be shot in my hometown Cologne, where I grew up and where my career started,” Podolski said in a press release.

“My scene takes place in the stadium and it’s really funny, I think.

“I am curious to see the result when I go to the premiere and see myself on the screen.”

Podolski’s fellow Germany international Mario Gotze has also been offered a role in another film by award-winning director Matthias Schweighofer.
