The 36-year-old says his former team have plenty of
quality and doubts he would be a part of the starting XI if he were
still at the San Siro
Fiorentina midfielder Massimo Ambrosini insists he is not missed by his former club AC Milan.
The 36-year-old spent 18 years with the Rossoneri and made over 300 matches for the club before departing for Florence on a free transfer this summer.
And despite Milan’s struggles so far this season, Ambrosini believes his absence has not played a part and backed the quality of Massimiliano Allegri's side to shine through in time.
“I don’t think they miss me,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Nigel De Jong is always the best on the pitch, with Riccardo Montolivo or Sulley Muntari.
“I don’t see why they would have any regrets. They are behind in the standings, but they remain a great club and a great squad.”
Ambrosini’s new team will face his former team on Saturday at San Siro, but the midfielder will be forced to miss the match as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury.
“I’d do anything to be part of the game, but not to prove anything. I would just like to play to help Fiorentina.
“Joining Fiorentina was a challenge for me. There are few clubs in Italy with real ideas and the Viola are one of them.”
