Louis van Gaal has recalled the right-back for the upcoming friendlies with Japan and Colombia, while there are also places for Paul Verhaegh and Wesley Sneijder

Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal has recalled Gregory van der Wiel to his preliminary squad for the upcoming friendlies with Japan and Colombia.

The 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain right-back returns for the Oranje after some impressive displays for Laurent Blanc's side in Ligue 1 so far this season.

Wesley Sneijder has also been selected after impressing for Galatasaray of late, while Augbsurg's Paul Verhaegh also returns after earning his only international cap back in August.

Key men Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben and Kevin Strootman are all included too, as the focus on next summer's World Cup in Brazil intensifies.
