Albiol adapting to Napoli life

The Spain international feels at home in Naples after moving to Italy from Spain over the summer to join Rafa Benitez's Partenopei revolution

Napoli defender Raul Albiol says he has adapted well to life in Italy since his €12 million switch from Real Madrid.

The centre-back spent four years at the Santiago Bernabeu having started his career with Valencia, but failed to nail down a regular first team spot with los Blancos and opted to move to Naples over the summer.

"I'm happy with the experience in Serie A and with the Napoli jersey," the 28-year-old told TVE.

"I'm settled in well despite many years of La Liga. Rafa Benitez and my former team-mates Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain played a huge part in that.

"Pepe Reina is an experienced goalkeeper who gives security to the team."

Albiol added that he is not interested in standing out as an individual player and is more interested in winning trophies as part of a successful team.

"I do not care about being the best in the pitch, I want to lead Napoli to success," he continued.

"Now I think I do well with Napoli, but it is obvious I also have to think about the World Cup with Spain."

Albiol has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Napoli so far this season, with the club second in the Serie A table and five points adrift of leaders Roma.
