The Swede has received only a mandatory ban, but the
full-back misses out for three games for comments made on Twitter about
referee Bjorn Kuipers
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has escaped a lengthy suspension for his sending-off against Chelsea, but Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Serge Aurier will miss three matches after abusing referee Bjorn Kuipers on Twitter.
The Swedish striker was shown a red card for a dangerous foul on Chelsea’s Oscar during PSG’s away-goals Champions League triumph at Stamford Bridge on March 11, and Uefa originally warned that he could face more than a mandatory one-match ban.
But while he European governing body confirmed on Thursday that Ibrahimovic will only be ruled out of the first leg of PSG’s quarter-final, there was bad news for full-back Aurier following his comments about Kuipers.
The Cote d’Ivoire international called the Dutchman a “dirty son of a b****” in a video he posted on Twitter in the aftermath of the second leg in London, only to later apologise via the social networking site.
However, Uefa has come down strongly on the 22-year-old, banning him for his side’s next three matches in Europe.
PSG will discover who they face in the quarter-finals of the Champions League at Friday’s draw, which begins at 12:00 CET.
