Sturridge: Rodgers is wrong - I can play every game
The Liverpool manager fears the England striker could suffer a recurrence of the injuries that have plagued him this season but the forward harbours no such concerns

Daniel Sturridge insists he is "ready to play every game" for Liverpool despite Brendan Rodgers's eagerness to protect the striker.

The Reds boss spoke ahead of Wednesday's 2-0 win over Burnley about the potential repercussions of pushing the England star too far having only just recovered from a five-month lay-off.

Sturridge, though, sealed Liverpool's fourth successive Premier League victory with a goal in just his second league start since returning from calf and thigh injuries and is keen to play his part this season.

"I feel good, I have felt really good since I came back and I am ready to play every game," Sturridge told reporters. "I don't want to be eased in but I suppose that is what the manager wants."

Jordan Henderson, who opened the scoring before assisting Sturridge's goal to seal the win, lavished Sturridge with praise following the win - Liverpool's eighth in their last 10 games.

"It is a massive three points for us, it was fantastic effort by all the lads," the stand-in captain added.

"It is great to have Daniel back, I thought he held the ball up really well. He gives us the freedom to play and his movement was unbelievable."
