Aguero on Manchester City title bid: We've been worse off before and still won
The Premier League champions overcame an eight-point gap to Manchester United to win their first crown in 2012 so sees Chelsea's current advantage as beatable

Sergio Aguero is confident Manchester City can still win the Premier League title despite trailing Chelsea by seven points.

The current champions closed a five-point gap between themselves and Jose Mourinho's side by early January but a four-game winless streak has seen the gap widen again.

Aguero, though, has not lost faith in City's title tilt, with the club overcoming an eight-point gap with six games to go to win their first crown in 2012.

"We were worse off in past seasons we still won and I was always convinced we'd be champions," he told the club's official website.

"There is a long way to go and a lot of games to play so anything is possible. Right now, it's anyone's title and it's not just two sides competing - there are many teams that are still in the hunt.

"Arsenal and United are back on their feet, Southampton are not far behind and Liverpool and Spurs have all shown good form, too.

"I believe this will be one of the most highly contested Premier Leagues of recent years and we will be giving everything to retain our title."

City strengthened with squad with the €36 million signing of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City, and Aguero feels the Ivorian's arrival could be key in the title race.

He added: "I think Wilfried Bony is a valuable addition to our ranks for the final months of the season. We have a lot of quality in our team which makes things very competitive and it will remain that way."
