The influential midfielder has urged his team-mates
to give their all in the remaining games before the winter break and
leave the relegation zone
Ilkay Gundogan has stressed that it's vital for Borussia Dortmund to win their five remaining games before the winter break.
Jurgen Klopp's men have been in disappointing form in the opening months of the 2014-15 Bundesliga campaign, but Gundogan feels they can limit the damage in the upcoming few weeks.
"We simply do not have enough points in the Bundesliga at the moment," Gundogan told the official Dortmund website.
"Our goal until the winter break is now to add as many points to our tally as possible. Ideally, we would like to win all five games.
"It will still not have been a good first half of the season, but at least we would have some sort of foundation for the second half. We hope to have all our players fit again for the restart in January."
Dortmund were beaten in the Champions League by Arsenal on Wednesday, but Gundogan is hopeful they can bounce back against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.
"Maybe this is the moment where we can hit the gas in the Bundesliga after slipping up in the Champions League. We want to do what we intended to do again Arsenal in Sunday's match versus Frankfurt."
Dortmund currently sit 16th in the Bundesliga table.
