Mourinho: Manchester City could hit Chelsea for six

The Blues boss admits Manuel Pellegrini's prolific side are favourites going into next Monday's clash at the Etihad Stadium, but insists his team will compete

Jose Mourinho admits Manchester City may well score six goals when they take on Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Monday evening.

Manuel Pellegrini's men have been in prolific scoring form this season, notching 115 goals in all competitions and netting 42 times in 11 home Premier League games.

And Mourinho concedes that City, who are still boast a 100 per cent home record in the league, are firm favourites for the title but insists his side will do their best to make life difficult.

"We go there next Monday and the result at this moment is 0-0. Are they favourites? Yes. Are they favourites to score, again, four, five, six goals? Yes,” Mourinho told reporters.

“But it's 0-0 now, and we go there to compete.

"For how many months have I said the same thing? - One team is an end product. The other is a team trying to build. For me, it's not a surprise."

Gary Cahill also believes Chelsea are in for a rough ride at the Etihad Stadium, and is less than confident in their chances of keeping a clean sheet.

"We need to try to get a positive result on Monday, knowing how difficult it's going to be," he added. "They just put another five in. They are banging goals in left, right and centre at the minute.

"Ultimately, big teams will find a gap and score. Of course, we will try to keep it tight because they are banging goals in. It's important to try to keep it tight.

"We shown we can go to the big clubs and get results but the way they are playing at the minute it will be a real test for us, so I'm sure it will be an exciting game."
