Montella: We must put Cuadrado controversy behind us

The Viola boss was enraged by the Colombian's dismissal in midweek but he now wants to focus on Saturday's meeting with an AC Milan side he is extremely wary of

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella says he has already put the "injustice" of Juan Cuadrado's sending off against Napoli behind him - and called on his players to do likewise.

The Viola were pressing for an equaliser in the dying minutes of Wednesday's Serie A clash with the Partenopei at the Artemio Franchi when the Colombia international was clearly felled in the area, but the referee, Gianpaolo Calvarese, decided otherwise, issuing the 25-year-old attacker a second yellow card for simulation.

Montella was initially enraged by the decision but he says it is now time to move on, particularly as they face a trip to San Siro on Saturday to take on AC Milan.

"It is clear that there was no simulation," he told reporters on Friday. "But we must find the strength to react. Just as in life, in football there is often injustice.

"It will not affect me. I'm looking forward and I hope that the players will do likewise.

"If we cannot bear these situations, it's better to get out of [football]. I have already turned the page. I am not one who cries over these things. I have a match to prepare for."

Milan are currently struggling in Serie A, with Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Lazio having left them languishing in 10th place in the standings.

However, Montella remains very wary of the Rossoneri: "They're always saying that Milan are in difficulty, but looking at their line-up, we see great players and interesting youngsters.

"Their strong point? The attack, with Robinho, Kaka and [Mario] Balotelli."

Fiorentina's meeting with Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza will kick off at 20:45CET.
