Toni Kroos, meanwhile, was pleased with Germany's display, though he acknowledged that the home side played their part in a hard-fought friendly.
"You could tell that both sides wanted to win it. It was a very intense game," the attacking midfielder mused.
"It's always good to have tests like this, to see what we still need to improve on and what we are doing well."
Germany will be looking to return to winning ways on Tuesday when they take on England.
