The defender picked up the problem on international duty and will now be missing for over a month
The Uruguay international picked up the injury while away on international duty and will be out of action for an estimated six weeks.
"Martin Caceres was this morning operated on at Turin’s Fornaca clinic after reporting back from last weekend’s international duty with a knee injury," a statement on the official Juventus website reads.
"The defender underwent arthroscopic lateral meniscectomy surgery on his right knee, with the procedure carried out successfully by Professor Quaglia.
"Caceres will now rest for a few days before beginning physiotherapy treatment. He is expected to be out of action for up to 40 days."
The 25-year-old had yet to feature in Serie A this term, but did take part in Juventus' Supercoppa Italiana win over Lazio.
