Everton have appointed Roberto Martinez as their new manager, signing a four-year deal at Goodison Park after leaving Wigan.
Dailyspotsnews exclusively revealed on May 8 that the Spaniard was Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright's No.1 target to replace the Manchester United-bound David Moyes.
Martinez won the FA Cup with Wigan in May, beating Manchester City in the final, before seeing the Latics relegated following eight years in the Premier League.
The 39-year-old was approached by Aston Villa to replace Gerard Houllier in June 2011, before holding talks with Everton's city rivals Liverpool 12 months later but rejected a move after refusing to share control of recruiting players.
