Poli to join AC Milan in €6.5m deal

Andrea Poli is set to become AC Milan's latest starlet
The 23-year-old Sampdoria and Italy midfielder is expected to join the Rossoneri imminently, having previously played for rivals Inter on loan last season

Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli is set to join AC Milan in a €6.5m deal this summer.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at rivals Inter, is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Rossoneri after meeting with representative Giovanni Branchini at Milan's headquarters in Via Turati during the week.

Goal understands that Sampdoria will receive the transfer fee in several installments, allowing Milan to place a reservation on a deal for Pedro Obiang, who is expected to follow Poli to the club in the next 12 months.

Poli's arrival could signal a huge overhaul in midfield, with the likes of Massimo Ambrosini, Mathieu Flamini, Antonio Nocerino and Bakate Traore all facing uncertain futures this summer.

Juventus showed a strong interest in the 23-year-old in January, and although they have been grappling with Milan for his signature for a number of months, he looks to have made the decision to join Massimiliano Allegri's side over the Serie A champions.

Inter, meanwhile, had the opportunity to sign the player in 2012, but were disinclined to make his loan deal permanent.
Poliwho began his career with Treviso in 2006 before moving to Sampdoria a year later, has won two senior caps for Italy after making his debut in a friendly against England last summer.
