Pastore: PSG are calm and confident

The midfielder is in confident mood as he and his team-mates bid to win the French league title this weekend

Javier Pastore says Paris Saint-Germain are "calm and confident" as they close in on their first Ligue 1 title since 1994.

Les Parisiens are nine points clear at the top of the table with four games remaining and a win against Valenciennes on Sunday, coupled with Marseille dropping points against Bastia, would be enough for the club to be crowned champions.

"I'm very happy because we could be crowned champions this Sunday," the 23-year-old told PSG's club website.

"That is very important for us, and especially for me because it will be the first title I've won in my career. It's been a very positive season with a great run in the Champions League and in Ligue 1. It may have been a difficult start, but the year has been very positive.

"This is just another normal week. We are working the same as always, preparing for a match that we aim to win on Sunday. We are calm and confident because we have a good lead in the table. It all comes down to us. We know what we have to do. We are masters of our own destiny.

"It has been a long season because we have played so many matches. I think we could have done better in the Coupe de France. We knew that the club needs to win trophies. We have been aware of that since the start. The end of the season is coming and we have three games left to win the title."

The former Palermo man then brushed off rumours linking Carlo Ancelotti with a move to Real Madrid and said the PSG boss is firmly focused on adding a French title to an already glittering CV.

"Rumours? There are rumours all season, about everything. We are only thinking about winning our next match. We want to be champions and we are focused on that objective, and it's the same for Carlo. The moment for thinking about the future can come later."

The Argentine scored the only goal of the game in his side's last league outing, as they defeated Evian 1-0.
