The Portuguese legend feels the club’s supporters can
play a huge part in spurring the team on the Europa League showcase
event in Amsterdam later in May
Former Benfica striker Nene has urged the fans to help roar their team to victory in Thursday's Europa League semi-final clash with Fenerbahce on Thursday.
The Turkish side lead 1-0 from the first leg last
week and Nene, who made over 600 appearances for the Portuguese club,
thinks a vibrant atmosphere at Estadio da Luz is the key to helping them
overturn the deficit.
"I expect to see a stadium full to 65,000 people, helping our team on," he told the club’s official television channel.
"Let's show the Fenerbahce we are able to be beat them and with the help of the crowd I feel we can win and get to the end of the competition."
The
visitors are without suspended duo Pierre Webo and Mehmet Topal, while
Jorge Jesus’ side will be missing Rui Fonte, who is out with a knee
injury.
