With
the group stage completed, the knock-out stage of the Copa Libertadores
will kick into gear with a host of top ties which Brazilian and
Argentine teams predictably dominate
The Copa Libertadores round of 16 draw has been decided and Brazilian and Argentine clubs dominate with teams from the two countries accounting for over half of the sides still involved in the competition.
Arguably the pick of the round sees Corinthians up against Boca Juniors who are in search of what would be their seventh title and what would also see them equal Independiente's record haul of Copa Libertadores trophies.
Aiding Boca in their hunt for glory is former Barcelona midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme who, after much media speculation, decided to continue with the Argentine giants earlier this year.
Ronaldinho's Atletico Mineiro, who were the only side with a 100 per cent record going into the final round of matches in the group stages, face a familiar foe in Sao Paulo who defeated them to end their five-match winning streak in the group stage.
Argentine outfit Tigre, who came close to securing the services of Riquelme before he confirmed his stay with Boca, have made the last 16 for the first time in their history, as have Real Garcilaso of Peru.
The Copa Libertadores final will take place on July 24 following a one-month break due to the Confederations Cup which takes place in Brazil in June.
