Matuidi ready to give '150 per cent' against Barcelona

The France international is aware that les Parisiens must be prepared to dedicate every last ounce of energy to their last-eight clash with "the best team in the world"

Blaise Matuidi has insisted that Paris Saint-Germain will give "150 per cent" in order to maximise their chances of overcoming Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Ligue 1 pace-setters recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory over last season's holders Montpellier on Friday, but the midfielder does not believe that the intensive nature of the result will impact on their performance against the Catalan giants.

"It will be a very big game. We know that it will be very difficult, facing the best team in the world. We hope that everyone will be behind us. We will be at 150 per cent," he told RMC.

"We hope that it will be a great game because it will give us the best chance of claiming a positive result."

The former Saint-Etienne star acknowledged the large number of Spain stars in the Barca squad - many of whom he faced on international duty with France last week - but urged his colleagues not to underestimate their other stars.

"There will be plenty of Spain internationals, it's true. But they still have other players like [Lionel] Messi, Dani Alves and [Javier] Mascherano - all of whom are top-notch players," he added.

"We will play to our strengths and we will try to thwart them to the maximum."
