Liverpool ready to make summer move for Chelsea transfer target

Liverpool are stepping up their interest in Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen but face competition from other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Chelsea, according to the Daily Mirror
.

Anfield scouts watched the Denmark international in action during last week’s World Cup qualifiers, and were impressed with what they saw. After positive reports from both the Czech Republic and Bulgaria fixtures, Liverpool are now finally ready to submit a formal offer.
But Tottenham have been long-term admirers of the 21-year-old, and a move from Liverpool could prompt a counter-offer from Spurs.

Lurking in the background are Chelsea. The 2012 Champions League winners have emerged as late arrivals onto scene, as recent reports have linked the west London club with a summer move for the Ajax star.
The report claims Eriksen will be available at the end of the season after refusing an extension to his current contract in Amsterdam. His present deal expires at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season, and Ajax would rather recoup some money for their latest star academy product than risking losing him for free.

But the fee would be less than Ajax would have hoped for had the Denmark international signed a new deal, and the short-term nature of his contract means the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs feel they could pick up a bargain this summer.
